The postal code in Paraguay
Since June 2018, Paraguay has a new Postal Code system. The Dirección Nacional de Correos del Paraguay [National Post Office of Paraguay] (Dinacopa), with the support of the Dirección General de Estadística, Encuestas y Censos [General Directorate of Statistics, Surveys and Censuses] (DGEEC), is the institution responsible for the creation of the Paraguayan postal codes.
Using the postal code system makes postal mailings more accessible, lowering costs, improving the efficiency and reliability of the mail and package delivery service.
The new ZIP code is a set of numeric characters that identifies user`s ZIP codes and consists of six digits. The structure of these codes is made up as follows: the first two digits represent the departments; the third and fourth digits correspond to the district; and the remaining two digits indicate the neighborhood or town.
This allows the Paraguayan Post to order the correspondence, shipments and parcels by the departments, districts and neighborhoods.
